Cruise to Kauai

As one of the premier Hawaiian islands, Kauai sees its fair share of cruise ships docking in Nawiliwili Harbor. Legend has it that the ancient Polynesians canoed across the Pacific until they hit Kauai. Captain Cook was the first Caucasian to set foot on the island and others soon followed. Today, Kauai is a mix of ethnicities, from native Hawaiians to mainland Americans to Japanese immigrants. This convergence of cultures makes it an ideal place to feel at home and still a world away. Beaches are bustling with surfers but quiet stretches still can be found. Waimea Canyon attracts tourists who want to see the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Kauai is also a hikers paradise as the Napali Coast is home to a treacherous trek along the cliffs that leads to one of the most tranquil spots on the island. Well worth the trouble, we think.
