Cruise to Portland

There's nothing more cliché than dubbing a destination a hidden gem. (It's also often misguiding: Most hidden gems are hidden for good reason.) So, bear with us when we boldly declare Portland, Maine, without doubt and without reservation, one hidden gem you have to see for yourself. (There. We said it.) The Old Port District — a stone's throw from where you'll dock — has been restored to its 19th century splendor and reveals this port city's historic charms. Cobblestone streets and Victorian brick buildings play host to restaurants, microbreweries, art galleries, and boutiques. Take in the view of Casco Bay with a cold beer in one hand and a lobster claw in the other. We did and you should, too.
