Tons To Do

Think families and you'll be spot on. There is nonstop fun for kids both inside the ship and out on deck, and dads can embarrass the children by showing off their surfing skills — or lack of them! Young couples will like Independence of the Seas as well, for the wining and dining. Stop by Vintages for a favorite sauvignon and tapas. That's a perfect end to the day.

Independence of the Seas OVERVIEW

The largest cruise ship in the world, until two other Royal Caribbean ships stole the title, Independence of the Seas sure is big — but don't let that put you off, because what it lacks in intimacy, it more than makes up for in fun.

Independence of the Seas is all about entertainment, from the FlowRider® surf simulator and rock-climbing wall to the ice-skating rink and lively kids and teen club areas. Needless to say, you can expect lots of families onboard.

The food is fun, too. Pop into Johnny Rockets for burgers and fries at $4.95, and watch the waiters dancing to the jukebox tunes. Or grab a pizza in Sorrento’s on the Royal Promenade, yes, really, a street with bars, restaurants and shops that runs through the center of Independence of the Seas. A spring 2013 makeover added a nursery for babies and toddlers, a cupcake cupboard and a poolside screen.
