For a small-ship feel with big-ship amenities, book a cruise on the all-suite Voyager where the environment is relaxed but service remains upscale. There isn’t much in the way of children’s entertainment or care, but that’s partly due to the mostly retiree set aboard, happily mingling in the cigar club, Observation Lounge or any of the six free dining options, where picking up the tab is never a topic of conversation.

Seven Seas Voyager OVERVIEW

Seven Seas Voyager is the second of three, all-suite and all-balcony ships launched by Regent Seven Seas Cruises. She’s a favorite with discerning folks aged 55-plus, in part for her stylish yet relaxed environment and delicious specialty restaurants, which guests can visit time and again at no charge.

As a six-star, luxury cruise ship, Voyager hits all the right notes. You eat when and with whom you wish in the restaurants, where service is efficient but not overbearing — you’ll notice the high crew-to-guest ratio — and dining areas are ample. Best of all, everything is included in the fare. Perhaps you’ll pay extra for a spa treatment — it’s Canyon Ranch SpaClub, by the way — and be charged a slight fee for some of the more expensive shore excursions, such as helicopters in Alaska and the bullet train in Japan. Aside from those extras, this truly is the cruise ship from which you can disembark without racking up a huge bill. Plus, there’s no class system aboard, so every passenger has access to the same amenities, activities and extras.
