Holland America Line Reveals New Partnerships and Major Upgrades

Today in New York, Holland America Line (HAL) announced details about three exciting new partnerships, a multimillion-dollar fleetwide upgrade, and even a new logo and tag line, to a packed house at the historic Explorers Club. 

“Today I’m announcing that HAL is investing $300 million to existing fleet 2016 to 2018,” said HAL President Orlando Ashford. “Upgrades will include $40 million in suite enhancements, starting with the Eurodam which will be dry docked in December, and then continuing with the ms Oosterdam which will receive its suite updates in April 2016.”
Also part of the “bold new story” of HAL, three key new partnerships designed to enhance guest experiences that will roll out in 2016. The first collaboration is with AFAR Media, who will provide destination guides to all 400 port destinations HAL sails to, using their local experts to curate “Top 20” experiences for travelers. 

The second relationship helps bring the AFAR guides to life by using software designed by Utrip to making experiences “more authentic and personalized for guests,” says Gilad Berenstein, Utrip CEO. The more guests interact with the content, the more personalized recommendations they’ll get for both itineraries and excursions. 
The final new partner is BBC Earth, which will offer both “education and entertainment,” according to Mat Way, BBC Earth’s director of live entertainment. The new offerings will combine large screen content, live concerts with music from shows, quiz shows, and, for kids, Walking with Dinosaur activities. And BBC Earth Feature Cruises will also include crew and talent from BBC programs.

Finally, HAL announced a refresh of the classic logo and tagline to “Savor the Journey” from “A Signature of Excellence.” The look comes to life in 2016 (but we’ve got a sneak preview, above). 
Also in 2016, HAL fans can look forward to the launch of the ms Koningsdam,designed by Adam Tihany with highlights featuring Music Walk, with live performances at Lincoln Center Stage and a BB Kings, as well as a culinary arts center and signature dishes by chefs ranging from David Burke to Jacques Torres.
