Cruise News: Pitbull is a godfather and 2016-2017 itineraries are out
Norwegian Cruise Line picks a Miami native as Godfather for Norwegian Escape; 2016 – 2017 sailing itineraries are slowly being released; and the Back to the Future cruise won’t need road where they’re going.

We saw Mr. Worldwide (AKA Mr. 305) perform at Norwegian Getaway’s christening ceremony in January 2014 and he rocked that ship. We are expecting the same type of heart-pounding performance at Norwegian Escape's christening ceremony on November 9 at PortMiami. Onboard.com will be covering the event live so be sure to check out our Twitter and Facebook accounts. In the meantime, here’s what you can expect on Norwegian Escape.
OK, maybe they’re not going that crazy, but the holiday festivities are going to be happening throughout their ships sailing in the Caribbean this December. Expect classic movies on the big screen, crewmembers caroling away, special holiday themed youth programs, ice-skating aboard select ships, and (my favorite) themed holiday towel animals. On the ships with the DreamWorks Experience sailing in the Caribbean (Allure of the Seas, Oasis, Freedom, and Mariner), guests can take holiday pictures with Po of “Kung Fu Panda;” Shrek, Fiona and Puss In Boots of “Shrek;” and Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo and King Julien from “Madagascar” who will be dressed in their holiday-inspired attire.
2016 – 2017 Cruise Itineraries Are Here…
- Oceania Cruises will feature 60 new destination-rich itineraries and 19 new ports of call including Alotau, Papua New Guinea; Ensenada, Mexico; Sept-Iles, Quebec; La Paz, Mexico; Portland, Australia; and Catalina Island, California just to name a few. Oceania Cruises prides themselves in creating itineraries that feature a blend of popular ports of call, boutique ports, and off-the-beaten path ports.
- Disney Cruise Line unveiled their itineraries and they decided to give the cruisers what they want. Disney will not be adding any new ports to their 2016-2017 sailings, but they will be returning to the popular destinations in the Caribbean and Bahamas and of course a few stops at their private island of Castaway Cay.
- AIDA Cruises published their itineraries for March 2016 to April 2017 and they added sailing routes and itineraries. In summer 2016 they are cruising to new ports in the Mediterranean, such as Nice on the Côte d’Azur, the Balearic beauties Ibiza and Minorca, La Spezia, the picturesque Propriano in Corsica, and Souda Bay in Crete. And for the cruisers who love the cold weather, the latest catalog includes three dates for cruises to wintry Norway.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
- Back to the Future Cruise is setting sail in November. Will you find a DeLorean on board? I’m not sure, but I do know you will find some of the cast from the film “Back To the Future” on board the ship like “Dave McFly”, “George McFly” and “Marvin Berry”. The cruise is sailing out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale to the Western Caribbean on November 7. Guests will get to meet and have dinner with some of the cast members, see exclusive behind-the-scenes presentations and a few other exclusive events. And remember, where we’re going we won’t need roads.
