Disney Wonder’s First Frozen Theme Cruise in Alaska
Do you want to build a snowman or let it go? On a Disney Cruise Line Frozen theme sailing, you can.
Debuting now on select summer sailings on Disney Wonder in Alaska and Disney Magic in Norway, characters from the hit animated film take over for Pirates of the Caribbean with an all-new deck party, day of fun and more.
I’m Jason Leppert – editor of PopularCruising.com and columnist at MiceChat.com – and I’m currently sailing on Disney Wonder in Alaska along with Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, iceman Kristoff and snowman Olaf to report on the ship’s first Frozen outing.
At the start of the cruise, Anna delivered a letter to guests’ staterooms, sharing her excitement to be sailing with us and explaining how in Arendelle she played a game called Anna’s Chocolate Chase Scavenger Hunt. As we answer daily riddles, symbols from the film are found throughout the ship, and we’re promised a special surprise once we’ve successfully completed the game.
Just yesterday, Disney Wonder was Frozen over, first with a transformed atrium with patterns and icicles reminiscent of Elsa’s palace.
Oaken’s Maypole Swirl and Twirl invited families to the wintery hub to learn a few traditional songs and dances, spinning and intertwining long colorful ribbons. Of course, no such day would be complete without screenings of the movie that started all this fun, and the Buena Vista Theatre kindly obliged. What’s more, kids exclusively got to answer “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” by turning a flurry of ice into their own snowman in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, followed by a Frozen-themed dinner featuring traditional Nordic fare and film-inspired dishes.
The evening was crowned with a rainy rendition of the Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends interactive deck party.
The whole cast got in the act with Anna and Kristoff leading a series of dances...
The trolls and Sven playing reindeer games, Olaf conducting an appropriate “In Summer” sing-along...
and Elsa arriving magically by fog to finally “Let It Go.”
For adults still awake, Club Frozen the After-Party and the Walt Disney Theatre performers kept the dancing alive.
Additionally, only Disney Magic has enhanced its production of “Disney Dreams … An Enchanted Classic” with appearances by the Frozen gang and their new numbers. Meet-and-greets with Anna, Elsa and Olaf are also available fleet-wide, and Olaf’s Summertime Freeze non-alcoholic bar has landed on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. Plus, Anna and Elsa are tagging along for a special port adventure in Alesund, Norway.
