The 84-seat 777-200 jumbo jet is the newest addition to Crystal's growing air fleet. The jet, which seats fewer than 90 passengers, features amenities befitting of Crystal's penchant for luxury: a 150-bottle wine cellar, a 24-inch flatscreen TV at every seat (as well as an iPad and Bose headset) and Crystal Cruises butlers waiting on passengers nearly round-the-clock.

The jet's trips will include 28-day itineraries with 12 to 15 stops that offer exclusive experiences—such as nighttime museum tours and "castle stays not usually open to the public", as shared by Crystal CEO Edie Rodriguez.

Now THAT's flying in style.

Celebrity Solstice is set to undergo an $8.5 million refurbishment

Upgrades include:

  • An outdoor film screen that will feature 'Taste of Film'—a look at cultural and destination-related cinema (located on the ship's Lawn Club).
  • Alcove-style cabanas will be added to the real grass lawn for additional seating options.
  • Sushi on Five, the ship's Japanese restaurant, will feature a new menu curated by sushi chef Yoshikazu "Yoshi" Okada. This includes tableside grated wasabi, hand-rolled sushi and Japanese beers and sakes, among other delicious additions.
  • The ship's current photo gallery will be replaced by a new gallery that will include 25 touch screen kiosks with downloadable photos to mobile devices.
  • Suite balconies will be furnished with new patio furniture.

Celebrity Solstice will enter her 11-day dry dock on October 22 in Singapore. Post refurbishment, the ship will be sailing Australia during their summer season. Stops will include New Zealand, Indonesia and other ports of call around Australia.

Holland America Line partners with America's Test Kitchen to include dynamic cooking shows on ships

America's Test Kitchen, a television program known for its handy cooking tips, is teaming up with the cruise line to transform the Culinary Arts Center on board ms Westerdam and Nieuw Amsterdam this fall. The Center will replicate the set of the popular TV show to host 45-90 minute cooking demonstrations and hands-on workshops of its own. From how to bake the perfect pie to how to hand-make a mean plate of pasta, cruisers will have the chance to learn how to cook like one of the pros.
